Paddle out from the sand and use the channels between the peaks. Stay clear of the rocks at the north end, especially at high tide.
Board for todayShortboardFish
A shortboard or fish for the peaks; a step-up when it's overhead. On small days a soft-top or mid-length on the inside.
Everything in Imsouane village is a short walk away: rentals, cafés, toilets. Nothing on the beach itself.
Local tip: When the Bay is too small, check here first: it's usually twice the size.

Named after the cliff that towers over it, Cathedral is Imsouane's exposed side. It faces the open Atlantic and picks up far more swell than the Bay, with peaks over sand and reef: punchy rights off the point, and lefts and rights on the beach that suit everyone on smaller days. It's best with an easterly wind and plain messy when the northerly trade wind blows.
Watch out: Rocks at the north end; currents on bigger days.
Imsouane Cathedral is at its best from September to May, on a W–NNW swell with a E–SE wind. Best tide: all tides. Check the 10-day forecast above for the best window each day.
Yes. Imsouane Cathedral is one of the friendliest waves in the area on small and medium days. On big days, leave it to experienced surfers.
Imsouane Cathedral starts working at about 0.4 m on the face and is best between 0.8 and 2.0 m. Above roughly 2.8 m it gets messy and starts closing out.
Right now the sea is about 19.3 °C. Recommended: 3/2 mm full suit. Over the year it ranges from about 17 °C in February to 22 °C in September.
